Yarra Council has announced its 2017 Annual Grant recipients, with nearly $815,000 being invested into local community groups.
With a focus on health, well-being and cultural participation, a total of one hundred and thirty-five projects received funding. These projects span seven categories, including Community Development; Arts and Culture; Family, Youth and Children; Youth-Led Grants; Sport and Recreation; Community Housing; and Environment.
Highlights include a range of free public programs exploring issues of feminism and female representation in contemporary art at Abbotsford Convent; the Centre for Contemporary Photography for a resident photographer in Citizens Park; and a collaboration between Circus Oz and the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service who together, have developed Deadly Elders Circus, a program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders to promote social connection and physical and mental well-being.
